Maldives records 1.1 million tourist visits

Ministry of Tourism has revealed over 1.1 million tourists have visited the Maldives so far this year.

The weekly statistics published by the tourism ministry show 1,126,539 tourists visited the Maldives as of November 24. The statistics show 113,611 tourist arrivals have been recorded so far this month, which is an increase of 3,000 compared to the same month in 2019. It is notable that tourist arrivals were above 100,000 in the past few months.

The statistics show 92,103 tourist arrivals were recorded in January, 96,882 arrivals were recorded in February and 109,585 arrivals were recorded in March this year. Additionally, a total of 91,200 tourists visited the Maldives in April, 64,613 tourists visited in May, 56,166 visited in June, 101,818 in July, 143,599 in August, and 114,896 arrivals were recorded in September. Statistics released by the tourism ministry show that 142,066 tourists visited the Maldives in October.

The Maldives is also seeing an average of 4,734 tourists per day and has targeted a total of 1.3 million tourist arrivals by the end of the year. Currently, most tourists visit from India, with 252,551 arrivals recorded so far this year, which marks up 22% of the total arrivals. Russia is in second with 202,277 tourist visits and Germany is in third with 81,223 tourist visits from the country so far this year.
