MWSC begins laying pipelines for water and sewerage systems in two islands

Male’ Water and Sewerage Company Limited (MWSC) has started laying the pipelines for the water and sewerage systems of Maarandhoo and Thakandhoo in Haa Alifu Atoll.

The installation of the pipelines were officially inaugurated in the two islands by Managing Director of MWSC Hassan Shah, and the respective parliamentarians and councillors representing the islands. Speaking at the inauguration ceremonies, Shah noted the projects will play a crucial role in expanding social and economic activities in the two islands. He added MWSC strives to maintain a high standard of quality in all of its projects across the country.

The water and sewerage project in Maarandhoo costs approximately USD 4.7 million. Under the project, MWSC will develop an 8.21 km long water supply network, Reverse Osmosis (RO) facility building and two RO plants. MWSC will also develop a 6.03 km long sewerage network, 800m long pumping line, three pumping stations, a sea outfall and an administrative building for sewerage services. MWSC will also provide household connections to the water and sewerage systems.

The water and sewerage project in Thakandhoo costs approximately USD 5.16 million. Under the project, MWSC will develop an 8.37 km long water supply network, Reverse Osmosis (RO) facility building, two RO plants, a brine outfall and water storage tanks. MWSC will also develop a 6.33 km long sewerage network, three pumping stations, and a sea outfall. MWSC will also provide household connections to the water and sewerage systems in the island.
