MTCC to train 100 youth under Hunavaru Technical Skills Programme

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has signed an agreement with the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment to train 100 local youth under the “Hunavaru” Technical Skills Programme 2021.

The agreement was signed during a special ceremony held at the head office of MTCC on December 6. The agreement was signed by CEO of MTCC Adam Azim and Minister of State for Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment Hussain Ismail.

Under the agreement, MTCC will provide industrial training for 100 local youth to prepare them for work in the construction industry. The agreement will be implemented via the National Apprenticeship Programme, in accordance with the national competency standards set by the Maldives National Skills Development Authority (MNSDA).

“Hunavaru” Technical Skills Programme aims to develop qualified Maldivians for the construction industry. Skills taught under this programme will include welding, plumbing, electrical work, automotive mechanics, carpentry and construction site supervision.

MTCC said participants of the programme will receive a monthly allowance of USD 200 for the duration of the programme. In addition, food and accommodation will be arranged for participants who live in a different island from the island of the allocated work site.
