Temporary mosque opened in Hulhumale' Phase II

Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Ahmed Zahir Ali has inaugurated the newly built Masjid Abi Bakri Siddiq in Hulhumale' Phase II. This is the second mosque opened in Hulhumale' Phase II.

Speaking at the ceremony held to inaugurate the temporary mosque, Islamic Minister Zahir said the mosque was built for the convenience of the residents of Hiya flats. The minister also highlighted the importance put forth by the current administration in building mosques across the country. He said decorating and maintaining the mosques must be given a high priority by everyone. He also reminded everyone to be mindful in completing regular prayers.

The mosque which has the capacity of 600 worshippers at a time was built at a cost of over USD 278,000 from the state budget. The mosque also provides separate prayer facilities for women.

The agreement to build the mosque was signed by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs with Yes Maldives Private Limited on September 19, 2019.
