MWSC begins fieldwork of water and sewerage project in Maalhos

Male' Water and Sewerage Company Limited (MWSC) has officially commenced fieldwork for the water and sewerage project in Maalhos, Baa Atoll.

Fieldwork for the project was officially inaugurated on December 17 by Managing Director of MWSC Hassan Shah, Chairman of Maldives Post Limited Mohamed Abdulla, President of Baa Atoll Council Ahmed Afrah and President of Maalhos Island Council Abdulla Sujau. Under the project, MWSC will develop a 4.9km long water supply network and a 4.5km long sewerage network, along with 230 household connections to the networks.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Managing Director of MWSC Hassan Shah said the company aims to establish a high-quality water and sewerage service in Maalhos, despite the small population of the island. He requested the public and the state authorities of the island to provide their full cooperation to MWSC during the project to ensure the project can be completed on time.

The water and sewerage project in Maalhos was contracted to MWSC in December 2020, at a price of USD 3.9 million. The project is contracted to be completed in a duration of 540 days.
