MTCC to reclaim 22 hectares in Thinadhoo

Ministry of National Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure contracts Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) to reclaim 22 hectares of land in Thinadhoo, Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll.

The agreement for land reclamation and shore protection project was signed by the Director-General of the Planning Ministry Ahmed Tholhath and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MTCC Adam Azim.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, CEO Azim said MTCC aims to complete the project quickly, in accordance with the expectations of the citizens.

MTCC is tasked with reclaiming 22 hectares in the Thinadhoo industrial zone within 22 months at a cost of USD 8 million. The housing ministry stated the scope of the project also involves constructing a 1,336m revetment and a 116m concrete bridge.

MTCC has been conducting various land reclamation, harbour development, and airport development projects across the Maldives. The state-owned company stated it had conducted a historically large number of projects in 2021 and plans to double its efforts.
