Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has stated it is extending the lift lobby areas of the Hiyaa flats to solve the issue of congestion during peak hours.
Many families have started relocating to Hiya flats in Hulhumale' Phase II, which consists of 16 25-storey towers with 20 apartments on each floor. Each tower consists of four lifts with narrow lobby areas, resulting in congestion during peak hours.
HDC stated its facilities management team is currently working on extending the lift lobby areas to solve the issue. As such, efforts have begun in some towers to extend the lobby areas.
HDC is also working to complete the finishing work of the Hiya flats with assistance from the government.
