Schools in the Maldives has reopened for the second term after a 21-day holiday following the end of the first term.
Schools were reopened for the new term with several measures taken in response to the current situation of the COVID-19 pandemic. In this regard, the Ministry of Education has instructed schools in the Greater Male' Region to present students to school at least two days a week and advised not to carry out any further activities, to keep a distance of three feet in classrooms, and to make handwashing arrangements, monitoring, and sanitisation arrangements. The education ministry advised taking these measures to ensure the safety and security of students.
Minister of Education Dr. Aishath Ali has stated classes in schools have commenced with all necessary arrangements and facilities for schools and students.
Although several measures are being taken in schools, it is advised for teachers and parents to take extra precautionary measures to ensure safety and health. As such, teachers and students should always wear masks and be careful about cleanliness during their school hours.
If any symptoms of COVID-19 or flu are seen from a student, parents are advised to isolate the child and if parents are down with flu or are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, they have been advised to refrain from attending the school for pick up or drop off.
