HPA to administer COVID-19 vaccines to children aged 5-11

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has begun preparations to administer COVID-19 vaccines to children aged 5-11.

At a press conference, Head of the Immunisation Programme Nashiya Abdul Gafoor said the agency is formulating a plan to administer vaccines to children between the ages of 5 and 11. She said HPA has obtained the relevant data and made preparations to begin administering the vaccines and the programme will begin once HPA receives the vaccine doses.

Currently, the Maldives is administering vaccines to children above 12 years of age and HPA has stated that 84% of children have now received both doses. The latest statistics from HPA show over 369,000 individuals have received the first two doses and 49,000 individuals have received the booster dose.
