Over 100,000 tourist arrivals recorded so far this year

The Maldives has recorded over 100,000 tourist arrivals so far this year.

The statistics publicised by the Ministry of Tourism show that 103,226 tourists have visited the Maldives so far this year. This is an increase of 46% compared to the 70,614 tourists who visited the Maldives during the same period last year. The Maldives recorded 6,213 arrivals on January 2, which is the highest number of tourist arrivals on a single day this year.

In addition, the lowest number of tourist arrivals were recorded on January 19 with a total of the most number of arrivals were recorded from Russia.

Meanwhile, statistics released by the tourism ministry show that the highest number of tourists arrived from Russia this year with 18.9% of the total arrivals. As such, 2,769 tourist arrivals were recorded from Russia so far this year. Russia had the second-highest number of tourist arrivals to the Maldives at the end of 2021, followed by India. However, India is now the fourth-largest market with 8% of the total tourist arrivals to the Maldives. The Maldives currently has the second-highest number of tourist arrivals from the UK with 9.5% of the total arrivals.

Statistics released by the ministry show that a daily average of 4,301 tourists arrive in the Maldives and spend a nine-day holiday on average.
