MTCC contracted to develop two regional ports

Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has contracted Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) for the Kulhudhuffushi Regional Port Redevelopment Project and Phase II of Thinadhoo Regional Port Development Project.

At a ceremony, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Shahid Ali and Chief Engineer Adam Mohamed signed the agreement on behalf of MPL, and CEO Adam Azim and the Chief Operating Officer (COO) Shahid Hussain Moosa signed the agreement on behalf of MTCC.

The Kulhudhuffushi Regional Port Redevelopment Project includes dredging, construction of a new harbour, revetment, and installation of navigational lights. Moreover, the construction of a new administrative and workshop building along with an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is also included as part of the project.

Meanwhile, under the Phase II of Thinadhoo Regional Port Development Project, a port administrative building will be constructed along with a guardhouse, a warehouse, and a workshop building. MPL said the project in Kulhudhuhfushi was contracted to be completed within 495 days at a cost of USD 8.9 million. MPL added the project in Thinadhoo was awarded to be completed within 330 days at a cost of USD 1.15 million.
