Faresmaathoda Airport to be completed by July

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has revealed Faresmaathoda Airport will be completed by Independence Day this year.

The development of Faresmaathoda Airport commenced in January last year. MTCC previously worked to complete the development of the airport by the end of last November. However, the state-owned company noted the work had been delayed due to difficulties in obtaining supplies from abroad.

Speaking to PSM News, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MTCC Adam Azim said the project will be completed and handed over as planned. He revealed work on the terminal and fire building is currently underway and is expected to be completed by the end of April, noting the causeway connecting Faresmaathodaa and the airport is expected to be completed by June.

Faresmaathoda Airport is being developed to cater to domestic flights. MTCC was contracted to complete the project at a cost of about USD10 million.
