Feevah harbour development completed

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has completed the harbour development project in Feevah, Shaviyani Atoll.

The project to redevelop the harbour in Feevah was contracted to MTCC in mid-2019. The project involved dredging of 40,420cbm for the harbour basin and 14,743cbm for the entrance channel, as well as construction of a 474m quay wall, 356m breakwater, 182m revetment and 27m groynes. The project also involved installation of harbour lights and navigational lights as well as the construction of an access ramp for barges.

Following the completion of the project, Secretary General of Feevah Island Council Hussain Azmeel said this is an important milestone for the people of Feevah. Noting the island has been in need of a harbour upgrade for several years, Azmeel said the development of the harbour is directly linked with the livelihood of the people.

The harbour development project in Feevah was completed at a cost of USD 4.38 million.
