United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Maldives has agreed to provide technical assistance to enhance investments in Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the Maldives.

UNDP Maldives agreed to provide assistance in the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with the Ministry of Economic Development. The agreement was signed by Minister of Economic Development Fayyaz Ismail and Resident Representative of UNDP Maldives Enrico Gaveglia.

As part of the agreement, UNDP Maldives will provide technical assistance for strengthening evidence-based policymaking, improving support to women's entrepreneurship, and enhancing investments in SDGs.

At the agreement signing ceremony, Minister Fayyaz said the agreement will greatly assist in the government's work to provide a business-friendly environment and pave the way for a diverse economy.

UNDP Maldives stated the agreement is expected to enhance the longstanding partnership with the economic ministry. UNDP Maldives stated it is also continuing its partnership with the ministry in 2022 with a new portfolio of initiatives including data for enhanced policy options, delving deeper into the blue economy for economic diversification, investments for SDGs, and women's empowerment.
