MTCC completes subgrade of Faresmathoda Airport runway

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has stated it has completed the subgrade and ABC work for the Faresmathoda Airport development project.

The development of Faresmaathoda Airport commenced in January last year. MTCC previously worked to complete the development of the airport by the end of last November.

However, the state-owned company noted the work had been delayed due to difficulties in obtaining supplies from abroad. MTCC also stated the steel structure of the terminal building is nearing completion.

Faresmaathoda Airport is being developed to cater to domestic flights. MTCC was contracted to complete the project at a cost of about USD10 million. The scope of the project includes the development of the sub-base and sub-grade works for the runway, taxiway, apron, a fire building, and a terminal building.
