COVID-19 cases remain high in atolls

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has revealed the number of daily COVID-19 cases remains high in the atolls.

The statistics from HPA show the number of daily COVID-19 cases have decreased in the Greater Male' Region but remains high in the atolls. As such, the latest statistics from the HPA show 1,037 new cases were recorded on February 15, with 136 cases in the Greater Male' Region and 828 cases in the atolls.

Addu City has recorded one of the highest numbers of cases with 857 individuals currently positive for COVID-19 and a daily average of 100 cases. The city has recorded 6,000 total cases so far, with most cases reported from Hithadhoo, Feydhoo, and Maradhoo. Currently, one resident is hospitalised while 15 deaths have been reported so far at the Addu COVID-19 facility.

Furthermore, 344 individuals are receiving treatment in Fuvahmulah City and 299 individuals have been found positive for COVID-19 in Funadhoo, Shaviyani Atoll.

Health authorities have placed special measures to curb the number of COVID-19 cases in the Greater Male' Region and the atolls. Individuals who show signs of illness are advised to get tested and self-isolate, while all citizens are advised to wear masks in public.
