Gan International Airport (GIA) has revealed it has brought additional vehicles to expand ground services. GIA has brought an airport stair vehicle, a ground power unit, and two push-back tractors.
The airport management stated the new stair vehicle will allow workers to service two Airbus aircraft at a time. It also stated the airport has begun using push-back tractors for the first time and that workers were previously unable to tow aircraft.
GIA began expanding its services in anticipation of increasing demand after international flights resumed at the airport.
Currently, Sri Lankan Airlines operates one weekly flight to GIA and plans to operate two weekly flights by March 30 and further increase scheduled flights in the future.
