Special activities held in Fuvahmulah to mark Martyrs’ day

Ministry of Home Affairs has conducted special activities in Fuvahmulah City to mark the National Martyrs’ Day.

Activities for this year’s Martyr’s Day began with a special art exhibition. The exhibition was officially inaugurated by Minister of Higher Education Dr. Ibrahim Hassan. Drawings displayed at the exhibition were prepared under the theme “Nationalism”.

Speaking at the ceremony held to inaugurate the exhibition, Minister of State for Home Affairs Ali Nazeer said such exhibitions help to display the skills and talents of young generations. He expressed hope the exhibition has helped to rekindle national spirit in the hearts of the youth, and renew their interest towards national events. He added the administration also places a high importance on providing platforms for youth to showcase their talents, and help them earn an income through these skills.

In addition to the art exhibition, a special quiz was held in Fuvahmulah School to mark the Martyrs’ Day. Celebrations of the day will conclude with the official ceremony of the Martyrs’ Day, to be held in Fuvahmulah on March 4. The activities for this year’s Martyrs’ Day are being held by the home ministry in collaboration with the Fuvahmulah City Council.
