Vaccinated travellers no longer required to undergo PCR tests

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has stated fully vaccinated travellers are no longer required to undergo PCR testing prior to arriving in the Maldives.

HPA has eased restrictions for travellers who arrive in the Maldives after receiving the full doses of a COVID-19 vaccine. As such, the health agency stated travellers who have received the full dosage of a vaccine authorised by the World Health Organisation (WHO) or the Maldives Food and Drug Authority (MFDA) are exempt from PCR testing. Additionally, fully vaccinated tourists in islands with guesthouses are no longer required to undergo PCR testing prior to leaving the Maldives.

HPA had placed strict measures following an increase in COVID-19 cases in the country at the start of the year. However, the health agency has been easing the restrictions as the number of COVID-19 cases decreases. Individuals are now allowed to travel within the country without requiring a negative PCR test result, and public gatherings, parties, and events are also permitted.
