New mosque to be developed in Manadhoo

Ministry of Islamic Affairs has contracted Afami Maldives Private Limited to develop a new mosque in Manadhoo, Noonu Atoll.

The agreement was signed by Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Ahmed Zahir and Managing Director of Afami Maldives Ameen Mohamed.

The ministry decided to develop a new mosque in the newly populated area in Manadhoo due to the space constraints in the current mosque. Afami Maldives is contracted to design and build the mosque to modern standards at a cost of USD1 million. The company is required to install air conditioners and other modern cooling systems as well as a renewable energy power generation system.

The ministry stated the mosque will be designed with a special area for women and will be able to accommodate 700 worshipers at once.
