RDC to develop 24 more roads in Kulhudhuffushi

Road Development Corporation (RDC) has commenced the development of 24 more roads in Kulhudhuffushi City.

The Kulhudhuffushi road development project is being carried out in two phases. As part of the first phase, 18 roads were reconstructed by laying asphalt. The second phase of the project commenced four years after 18 roads were developed under the first phase.

RDC has been contracted to develop 24 more roads connected to the first phase of the road development project. RDC said the casting work has now been completed and the second phase of road development has commenced.

The second phase of the project was inaugurated by the Managing Director of RDC Moosa Ali Manik at a ceremony held in Kulhudhuffushi. He said a proper water supply system will be established on the island in addition to installing road lighting, speed breakers, and road signs as part of the project.

Kulhudhuffushi is one of the most populous islands in the north. A large number of people travel to the regional hospital, airport, and government offices on the island. However, residents complain because of the inconvenience caused due to flooding on the island.

The project is scheduled to be completed within one year and for months. The project is worth USD6.4 million.
