Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has begun a campaign on the occasion of Global Recycling Day to allow Maldivians to give away household items and furniture instead of throwing them away.
HDC’s campaign allows Maldivians to give away the items and furniture as gifts when replacing them for the months of Ramadan. As such, the company will be holding an event from March 24 to 26 for residents in Hulhumale’ to bring their items and furniture. HDC will accept electronic items, furniture, as well as kitchen and other household appliances during the campaign and will not allow food or expiring items, and has banned any form of business transaction to take place at the event.
The company aims to build the habit of reusing or giving away items in Maldivian communities while also allowing individuals to receive much-needed items for their households.
