Vice President inquires about alleviating social standards in Mahibadhoo

Vice President Faisal Naseem has inquired about ways to alleviate the social standards of the island community in Mahibadhoo, Alifu Dhaalu Atoll.

During the meeting held at the President’s Office with the Mahibadhoo Island Council, the councillors shared pertinent needs and developmental concerns faced by the island, with the vice president. The issues addressed include housing difficulties arising from limitation of space on the island, delays in resuming the road construction project despite funds being allocated in this year’s government budget, difficulties in municipal waste management, and the need for student accommodation to be made available on the island. The council members conveyed to the vice president that much of the development on the island is constrained due to space restrictions, requesting the government to undertake a reclamation project on the island.

Vice President Naseem, in response, stated that the administration would seek avenues to resolve the issues faced by the island community and work alongside the council to rectify the concerns of the people.
