MTCC to undertake shore protection project in Gan

Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure has contracted Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) to undertake the shore protection project in Gan, Laamu Atoll.

The project was awarded to MTCC on March 24. The contract of the project was signed by Permanent Secretary Zeeniya Ahmed Hameed and General Manager of MTCC Shifau Ali.

Under the project, MTCC will construct a 30m revetment on the northern shoreline of Gan, along with 260m groynes. MTCC will also undertake beach replenishment in the eroding area by pumping 10,000 cubic metres of sand.

The project was awarded to MTCC at a price of USD3.4 million. The duration of the project is 180 days.
