Health Protection Agency (HPA) has reported 288 new COVID-19 cases in the Maldives last week.
As per the statistics published by HPA for April 17-23, the Maldives recorded 288 new cases last week, including 37 cases from the Greater Male’ Region, 205 cases from inhabited islands in the atolls and 46 cases from other locations. With this update, the total number of COVID-19 cases reported in the Maldives has risen to 179,171.
The State of Public Health Emergency declared in the Maldives was lifted last month, exactly two years after the emergency was declared following the detection of the first COVID-19 case in the country. Most of the COVID-19 restrictions have now been lifted, although HPA has advised to continue to practice precautions to limit the spread of the disease.
