MAA to commence practical classes after Eid holidays

Maldivian Aviation Academy (MAA) has announced its practical classes will begin after the Eid holidays.

The practical classes of the first batch of students at MAA were originally scheduled to begin on April 28. However, Island Aviation Services Limited (IASL), which operates the academy, revealed the practical classes have been postponed till the end of the upcoming Eid holidays.

Speaking to PSM News, Deputy Managing Director of IASL Aishath Jennifer said three aircraft to be used for the classes of MAA were brought to the Maldives on April 11. However, she said there have been some delays in some of the logistics involved in transferring the aircraft to Gan International Airport in Addu City, where the academy is operated. She said all three aircraft will be transferred to Addu after the Eid holidays.

MAA, inaugurated on December 28, 2021, is a collaboration between IASL, Maldives National University (MNU), and the Czech Republic-based Flying Academy. MAA began classes with 35 students in its first batch, which includes students of the Asian Academy of Aeronautics (AAA) that was previously operated in Addu but had to discontinue their training for a variety of reasons.
