The health centre of Hithaadhoo, Baa Atoll has expanded its services to 24 hours per day.
The health centre began its 24-hour services on the occasion of its 18th anniversary. With the commencement of the 24-hour services in Hithaadhoo Health Centre, six islands in Baa Atoll now have 24-hour healthcare services.
Senior Administrator of Hithaadhoo Health Centre Amir Abdul Latheef said the centre is coordinating with the Ministry of Health to address the issue of staff shortage that comes with the beginning of 24-hour services. He said efforts are also underway to upgrade the facilities of the health centre, which currently has a 4-bed ward, one OPD, a laboratory, a dressing room and a labour room.
The commencement of 24-hour services in Hithaadhoo Health Centre is expected to enable faster and more efficient healthcare services in Baa Atoll, which is home to several resorts. The main hospital in the atoll is Baa Atoll Hospital, located in Eydhafushi.
