MPL begins using ERP software

Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has begun using enterprise resource planning (ERP) software to make their work more efficient. The software was officially launched at a special ceremony as part of MPL’s digital transformation initiative.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Shahid Ali said MPL decided to use the ERP software in 2019 in order to make its work more efficient. He said that introducing the software is a key step in digitalising MPL, as it will allow the company to fast-track its work and increase reliability for customers, organisations, and shipping liners. He said the software is also expected to improve the company’s integrity.

Furthermore, Shahid said the ERP software will allow employees to do different types of work that previously required multiple software to execute and that organisations tasked with monitoring and auditing MPL will also find the software useful as it will keep a record of the company’s financial information.

MPL’s digital transformation initiative was launched to improve its administrative work and services. As such, the ERP software will be used to integrate the work of all the departments in the company. ERP software is used to manage day-to-day business activities such as accounting, procurement, project management, risk management and compliance, and supply chain operations. A complete ERP suite also includes enterprise performance management, and software that helps plan, budget, predict, and report on an organisation’s financial results. ERP systems tie together a multitude of business processes and enable the flow of data between them and eliminate data duplication and provide data integrity with a single source of verification.
