MWSC prepares to sell water supply, sewerage equipment

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Male’ Water and Sewerage Company Limited (MWSC) Hassan Shah has revealed that the company will soon begin selling equipment related to water supply and sewerage systems.

Speaking at the ceremony commemorating the 27th anniversary of MWSC, CEO Shah said that work is being done to expand the company and that it will soon begin selling water supply and sewerage equipment. As such, he said that MWSC is in discussions with hardware stores to market and sell PVC pipes and fittings being made by the company and that MWSC also aims to add more products to its showroom.

Furthermore, CEO Shah said that MWSC is in preparations to sell glass water bottles after conducting a survey and that the company has contracted a glass bottle supplier. He said the government’s policy against single-use plastic is deeply connected to MWSC’s work towards change and innovation.

MWSC began work to establish a glass water bottling plant in 2021 to support the government's plan to phase out single-use plastics in the country. The government committed to phasing out single-use plastics in the Maldives by 2023, as per the Parliament Resolution of 2019 and President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's declaration at the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in the same year.
