Vaccination for children has commenced in Villimale' Hospital after suspension.
On May 27, IGMH began investigating a case of negligence in which staff at the Villimale’ Hospital had administered expired vaccines to children. The administration of vaccines was temporarily halted at Villimale’ Hospital following the case.
Vaccination in Villimale' hospital is carried out under Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH). In a press release, IGMH stated it has begun a serious investigation with the Health Protection Agency (HPA) after being informed of the incident that occurred at Villimale’ Hospital. IGMH revealed it has taken necessary action against those who were negligent in the case and has taken all necessary measures to ensure that such an incident does not happen again in the future. As such, action has been taken against the employee who administered the vaccine.
The children who have received expired vaccines will need to be revaccinated after a certain period of time has passed.
