MSS aims to begin transporting goods from Middle East

Maldives State Shipping (MSS) has stated that it aims to begin transporting goods from the Middle East using a new container ship later this year.

MSS has begun operations with two of its newly purchased ships. As such, MSS has begun operations to transport goods from Sri Lanka with MSS Galena, while bulk carrier MSS Chrome is being used to transport construction material from the UAE. The company is also working to begin shipping services between the Maldives, Singapore, and Malaysia with MSS Graphene, which can carry 790 containers, a 60-tonne crane, and 60 reefers.

Speaking to PSM News, Managing Director Abdulla Saeed said that MSS Graphene will arrive in the Maldives on June 23 and begin transporting goods from Singapore next month. He said the company also aims to expand its shipping services by connecting routes with the Middle East with a new ship later this year.

MSS is a shipping and logistics company owned by State Trading Organisation (STO), offering an extensive international liner shipping service. MSS began its services in 2020 to reduce the price of goods imported into the country.
