Maldives has been nominated under nine regional categories of the 2022 World Travel Awards.
World Travel Awards is a global initiative to recognise and reward excellence in travel and tourism. Similar to other years, the Maldives has been nominated for several of the awards under the Indian Ocean category. As such, the Maldives has been nominated for the Indian Ocean’s Leading Destination, Leading Beach Destination, Leading Cruise Destination, Leading Dive Destination, Leading Adventure Tourism Destination, Leading Green Destination, Leading Honeymoon Destination, Leading Sustainable Tourism Destination and Leading Wedding Destination.
In addition, the national airline Maldivian has been nominated as the Indian Ocean’s Leading Airline, Leading Business Class Airline, Leading Economy Class Airline, Leading Airline Brand and Leading Cabin Crew. Meanwhile, Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has been nominated as the Indian Ocean’s Leading Tourist Board.
World Travel Awards are the most prestigious awards given in the field of travel and tourism. Maldives has won several awards under both worldwide and regional categories of the awards. As such, the Maldives is the winner of the World’s Leading Destination in 2020 and 2021.
