MACL assures airlines can refuel at VIA without difficulties

Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has assured that airlines will be able to refuel at Velana International Airport (VIA) without difficulties.

MACL stated fuel will be released to both domestic and international airlines at VIA under a controlled system. MACL noted fuel is generally restocked at VIA on a monthly basis, with the next shipment expected to arrive on July 15. MACL stated no shortage of fuel is expected even until the arrival of the new shipment, adding airlines will be able to refuel at the airport without difficulties.

Furthermore, MACL noted many airlines have been refueling at VIA in large quantities due to the fuel shortage issues faced in Sri Lanka. MACL said airlines are currently given enough fuel for the journey to its next destination, noting fuel stocks have been allocated separately for both domestic and international operations.

VIA is currently experiencing heavy traffic due to the increased flight operations following the start of school holidays.
