STO to allow 60 businesses to operate at People’s Choice

State Trading Organisation (STO) has stated that it plans to provide the opportunity for 60 businesses to operate at the People’s Choice Supermart.

STO revamped its supermarket in March with many different brands and businesses brought in to sell their goods at the supermarket. As such, small businesses are currently operating at the supermarket including bakeries, cosmetic shops, bookshops, and children’s toy stores.

Speaking to PSM News, Managing Director Hussain Amr said the first floor of People’s Choice is being renovated to accommodate more businesses due to the increase in demand. He said the business model was initially met with low expectations but that more businesses are realising the profitability in selling their products at the supermarket.

Furthermore, Amr said that 60 businesses will be provided with the opportunity to sell their goods and provide services on the first floor once it is open. He added the 60 units will only be open for lease for small businesses and that the work on the first floor is in the design stage and will be open by July next year. He also said the improvements made to People’s Choice have significantly increased the number of daily customer visits.
