Ministry of Tourism has opened nominations for President's Tourism Gold Awards introduced to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the tourism industry in the Maldives. The award is open to employees and establishments in the tourism sector.
The President's Tourism Gold Awards will be presented in 25 categories which include Most Innovative Resort, Most Innovative Hotel, Most Innovative Safari, Most Innovative Guesthouse, Tourism Human Resource Development, Best Travel Agency, Excellence in CSR Resort, Excellence in CSR Hotel, Excellence in CSR Safari, Excellence in CSR Guesthouse, Environmental Sustainability Resort, Environmental Sustainability Hotel, Environmental Sustainability Safari, Environmental Sustainability Guesthouse, Best Tourism Transport Service (Sea), Best Dive Centre (Resort) Best Dive Centre (Local Island), Water Sports Centre (Resort), Water Sports Centre (Local Island), Best local tourism island, Best Local Artist (DJ), Best Local Artist (Music), Best Local Artist (Music Band), Best Local Artist (Group/Band) and the award for serving the industry for 45 years.
The main objective of the President's Tourism Gold Awards is to recognise the services of individuals and establishments that have contributed to the tourism industry in the Maldives over the years. Opportunities to nominate for all the awards are open until September 11.
The Government of the Maldives has been conducting various activities throughout the year to celebrate the golden jubilee.
