Motorcycle parking zone established in Ameenee Magu

Male’ City Council has established a parking zone in Ameenee Magu with the capacity to park 335 motorcycles.

The city council stated the new parking zone was established near the Traffic Police Station as part of the process of making space for minibus operations. Parking zones will also be established on the Samosa Villa land plot, the plot in front of the High Court, near Dharubaaruge, and in the Coral Boulevard area.

MTCC has been clearing streets and establishing bus stops in Male’ to commence the Raajje Transport Linke (RTL) minibus service. The state-owned company plans to use 18 buses for service in Male’ and eight of the buses are easily accessible to people in wheelchairs. The minibusses have a capacity of 20-25 passengers and are designed for easy access and travel for people with disabilities.

The bus routes have been established to make it easy for school students, office workers, and individuals travelling to hospitals to reach their destination within 10 minutes from the farthest bus stops. The bus routes are interconnected to areas in Henveiru and Maafannu wards and each bus stop is a five-minute walk away from the other.
