Authentic Maldives outlets disburse over USD1.9 million to suppliers

Business Centre Corporation (BCC) has revealed the outlets of Authentic Maldives have disbursed over USD1.9 million to suppliers.

The outlets were opened by BCC with assistance from the Ministry of Economic Development. BCC stated the outlets have over 180 suppliers and that they aim to provide more opportunities for local businesses to sell their wares to the international market.

Authentic Maldives is an initiative by BCC to promote the sale of local products. The purpose of Authentic Maldives is to provide a platform where small businesses could market and sell their local products at its four outlets.

The first outlet of Authentic Maldives was opened at Velana International Airport (VIA) in January 2020. The second outlet was opened at Hulhumale’ Centro Mall in November 2020, followed by a third outlet in Male’ City in March 2021. The Authentic Maldives opened its first resort outlet at Kudavillingili Resort in October 2021. The fourth outlet was opened in CROSSROADS Maldives in July.

BCC has also provided consultancy and assistance to over 6,000 local businesses since commencing operations in 2019. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) can request consultancy through its official website. The service is provided by all 13 business centres in the atolls and the head office of BCC in Male’.
