CRF provides information to strengthen Companies Act Bill

Registrar of Companies Maryam Visam has said the Corporate Registers Forum (CRF) has provided information to further improve the Companies Act bill.

A bill has been introduced to the Parliament of the Maldives to enact a special law to regulate the registration, operation, and liquidation of companies. The bill is currently in the committee stage.

Speaking to the media, Visam said the conference has provided additional information to complete the Companies Act Bill. She said the opportunity to chair the conference was a great achievement for the Maldives and the result of the conference will benefit the country. Highlighting the discussions that took place, she said the conference also provided information on strengthening the legal framework of the Companies Act Bill, and best practices to be followed in operating companies.

The CRF is an association of international corporate registries. The membership is open to government agencies and their officials responsible for the administration of corporate registers.

The CRF annual conference is combined with the annual general meeting (AGM) and provides delegates with the opportunity to review the latest developments in corporate business registers internationally and exchange experiences and information on the present and future of business registries.

Ministry of Economic Development hosted the opening ceremony of the 17th annual CRFat Paradise Island Resort from September 21-24.
