Maldives signs MoU with Kazakhstan to facilitate scheduled air services

The Maldives and Kazakhstan have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to permit and facilitate scheduled air services between the two countries.

The MoU was signed by Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Aishath Nahula and Talgat Lastayev, the Chairman of the Civil Aviation Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development. The MoU also enables the operation of code-share services by the designated airlines of each party.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs earlier revealed that Maldivian nationals travelling to Kazakhstan will be exempted from visas. The visa exemption allows Maldivians holding valid diplomatic, official, and ordinary passports to enter and stay in Kazakhstan for a maximum period of 30 days from the day of their entry.

Minister Nahula signed the MoU on the sidelines of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) general assembly. She is also meeting with delegations of various countries. As such, she held discussions with Minister of Transport and Communication of Qatar Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti to review and further strengthen the relations between the two countries in the transport sector. The discussion focused on finalising the general transport cooperation agreement and continuing to explore ways of further cooperation and collaboration between the two countries.
