Ministry of Education has contracted a joint venture of Azzrova Maldives Private Limited and Edward and Christie Private Limited to build another school in Hulhumale' Phase II.
It is the fifth school to be built by the government in Hulhumale' Phase II. The school will have 54 classrooms, a multipurpose hall, four elevators, and all the facilities required for a fully equipped school. The entire project will cost more than USD15 million and is contracted to be completed within 18 months.
Speaking to the media after signing the agreement, Minister Aishath said the project to develop a new school in Hulhumale' Phase II will be carried out on a contractor financing basis as a design and build project, adding the expectation is to complete the project in August 2024. She highlighted there are other schools under construction with one to be opened in January 2023 and the other to be opened in August 2023. She added efforts are underway to open a preschool in Hulhumale' Phase II next month.
