President will defend Maldivian independence: Home Minister

Minister of Home Affairs Imran Abdulla has stated President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih remains steadfast in protecting Maldivian independence and sovereignty. He made the statement while speaking at the special ceremony to commemorate the day the Maldives embraced Islam.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Imran noted the Maldives is celebrating the 896th anniversary of the day the country embraced Islam and that it was a blessing that very few countries can celebrate. He said citizens need to look towards Islam to find courage in overcoming challenges, despite the size of the state.

Furthermore, Minister Imran said that President Solih remains steadfast in defending the country’s sovereignty and independence, and gave his assurance as someone who works closely with the president.
