Fenaka Corporation Limited has stated that a 1.2MW generator set has been transported to Eydhafushi, Baa Atoll.
Fenaka stated the new generator set will ensure that residents of Eydhafushi will receive uninterrupted power for the next 10 years. The generator set will be installed within 15 days and will allow other generator sets to be overhauled and prevent power outages in case a generator fails.
A 1MW generator set was transported to Eydhafushi previously. The island is now being powered by four generators with capacities ranging from 300KW to 1MW. Fenaka is also upgrading the cable network on the island to solve the issue of voltage loss. As such, five transformers will be placed and the cable networks will be upgraded within the year. The current cable network was installed in 1995.
