Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) has announced its mobile application developed for fishermen named Masveringe App will be launched on Fishermen's Day this year.
Speaking on a programme aired on PSM News, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ismail Fauzee said testing and assessing are now underway for the application developed for fishermen, adding the application will greatly benefit fishermen. He noted many information will be made available from the application while payments can be made for fishermen through the application once it is launched. The fishermen can also check the latest statistics related to the sector via the application.
MIFCO is currently depositing payments to fishermen's bank accounts online after purchasing fish. The state-owned company said several efforts are underway to improve its services, expressing the application will revolutionalise the services provided to fishermen. The company expects the technological advancements brought to the fisheries sector will ease the work for fishermen and encourage more locals to join the industry.
