Nashiz elected as Chair of Budget Committee

Parliamentarian Mohamed Nashiz has once again been elected as Chair of the Parliamentary Budget Committee.

Nashiz was elected to chair the committee to review the proposed state budget for 2023. All committee members voted unanimously to elect him to the position, along with Parliamentarian Mohamed Rasheed as the Vice-Chair. The Budget Committee is a joint committee of the Parliamentary Committee on Public Accounts and the Parliamentary Committee on Economic Affairs.

The government proposed a USD2.76 billion state budget for the year 2023. Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Nasheed said the budget will be evaluated from November 11-16 and approved on November 30.
