Training programme held on preparing fish products

Ministry of Fisheries, Marine Resources, and Agriculture has conducted a training programme on preparing fish products.

The training programme was held in Mauvvari, Raa Atoll, in collaboration with the Japan International Corporation Agency (JICA) under the Promotion of the Blue Economy project. Around 12 individuals involved in the production of fish products participated in the programme.

Deputy Director General of the Fisheries Ministry Adam Manik said the training programme aims to improve and maintain the quality of fish products and that an expert from Japan is involved in training participants and teaching methods of testing to determine the quality of the products.

The training programmes will be conducted in five islands, and the next programme will be held in Hirilandhoo, Thaa Atoll. The fisheries ministry will also be conducting training programmes dedicated to preparing yellowfin tuna products, in collaboration with Big Fish Maldives Private Limited and Ensis Fisheries Private Limited. The Government of Japan is funding all activities held under the Promotion of the Blue Economy project.
