Two mosques to be built in Hulhumale’ Phase II

Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has handed over land plots to build two mosques in Hulhumale’ Phase II.

Sun Front Private Limited and Veligaa Hardware will be building the mosques as part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR). The agreements were signed by Managing Director of Housing Development Corporation (HDC) Ahmed Athif, Managing Director of Sun Front Mohamed Rashad, and Managing Director of Veligaa Hardware Mohamed Abu Bakr.

Sun Front received 22,900sqft of land to build a mosque that can accommodate 2,000 worshipers. The mosque will be designed as an Islamic centre that provides space outside for people to gather during Eid and other activities. The mosque will also have a special area for women and the building will be powered using solar energy. Veligaa Hardware received 15,400sqft of land to build a mosque that can accommodate 2,200 worshipers.

Managing Director of HDC Athif noted the enthusiasm private companies have shown in building mosques in Hulhumale’ as part of their CSR. A private company had previously built a mosque in Hulhumale’ Phase II and the government is building two more mosques.
