RDC to begin fieldwork on second segment of Ameenee Magu

Road Development Corporation (RDC) has revealed that the fieldwork will commence for the development of the second segment of Ameenee Magu in Male' City.

RDC stated that it is working on the modernisation of Ameenee Magu in various segments. The first segment is now complete and the fieldwork for the second segment is now ready to begin. It will be constructed on 136m of the road between Irudheymaa Hingun and Kalaafaanu Hingun.

Speaking to PSM News on the government's achievements in the past four years, Managing Director of RDC Moosa Ali Manik said that all the necessary steps have been taken to start the work for the second segment. He said that the work will start as soon as the equipment required for some utility companies is made available.

RDC stated that the road will be levelled and opened to the public after the completion of the segments. The tar will also be laid after the completion of the fieldwork. The condition of the cables and pipes laid with Ameenee Magu is now known and many experiences have been gained during the work of the first segment, according to RDC. Therefore, the speed of the work will be accelerated in the future.

The development of Ameenee Magu, one of the main roads connecting all the neighborhoods of the city, will be carried out in 13 segments. The contract for the redevelopment of Ameenee Magu was signed between RDC and the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure on July 3. The project involves paving the whole 1.7km length of Ameenee Magu with asphalt and installing a new stormwater drainage system. The project was contracted to RDC at a price of USD5.5 million. The duration of the project is seven months.
