Free scholarships at National Skills and Career Expo

Ministry of Higher Education has announced that visitors at the National Skills and Career Expo stand to win a free scholarship to study abroad.

Speaking to PSM News, Minister of Higher Education Dr. Ibrahim Hassan said the expo provides a platform for colleges and companies to directly provide information and that visitors at the event will receive details on job opportunities and will get the chance to do immediate interviews. He noted that job seekers are frustrated due to job openings that do not disclose the salary and work requirements.

Furthermore, Minister Hassan said that four scholarships will be awarded to visitors through a lucky draw and that the winners will receive the chance to study abroad for free. He detailed that the free scholarships consist of a pilot course in Spain, an aircraft maintenance course in Jordan, and culinary arts and interior design courses in Malaysia. All winners of the scholarships will be required to travel and begin their studies within one year.

The National Skills and Career Expo will be open from 1600hrs to 1800hrs and 2000hrs to 0000hrs on November 18 and 19 at the Hulhumale’ Central Park. Visitors will receive information on higher education and job opportunities available in the Maldives. The expo will feature stalls from higher education and training providers, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) centres, state-owned companies, and relevant ministries. The higher education ministry will also provide information on student loans, scholarships, and government-funded undergraduate schemes. The expo is held as part of the World Bank-funded Maldives Enhancing Employability and Resilience of Youth (MEERY) project.
