CGM Chef Awards conferred to 36 individuals

The first-ever CGM Chef Awards has been conferred to 36 chefs.

The awards were presented at an official ceremony organised by the Chefs' Guild of Maldives (CGM). The awards recognise the outstanding talents in the fast-growing culinary industry of the Maldives and aim to encourage more youth to be involved in the culinary industry in order to keep the tourism pace of the Maldives in the international market.

The awards were presented to the recipients by President Ibrahim Mohamed Saleh and First Lady Fazna Ahmed. The awards were conferred in eight categories and the chefs who received these awards include skilled chefs celebrated in the culinary industry for many years. As such, Ahmed Maazim received the Chef of the Year award, one of the most prestigious awards. In addition, memorial plaques were presented to those who are working to promote culinary arts and those who helped in the sector. They were presented with the plaques by Minister of Tourism Dr. Abdulla Mausoom.

Speaking at the ceremony, the President of CGM Mariyam Noordeen said that chefs have played an important role in the success of the tourism industry in the country. She said CGM will further expand its role in the future to promote the development of the chefs.
