HDC joins Mastercard’s City Possible Network

Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has joined the City Possible Network pioneered by Mastercard.

The agreement was signed by the Managing Director of HDC Ahmed Athif and Sandun Hapugoda, Mastercard's Country Manager for Sri Lanka and the Maldives.

HDC stated that gaining membership in the City Possible Network will benefit the company’s Smart City project by introducing smart solutions and solving the various challenges in the development of Hulhumale’. The company has already installed the Open Access Network, the smart pole, and the smart bench in Hulhumale’ as part of its smart city solutions.

City Possible is a new model for urban innovation in which a global network of cities, businesses, academics, and communities work together to make the world’s cities more inclusive and sustainable. Mastercard stated it has expanded its support for addressing urban challenges and inequalities, working with city leaders and partners around the world through the network. It stated that the unique solutions now reach over 600 communities in more than 50 countries across six continents, helping to foster collaboration and co-creation, drive inclusive economic development, and build resilient communities.
